Picasa is an image organiser and image viewer for organizing and editing digital photos, plus an intergrated photo sharing website, originally created by a company name Lifescape in 2002. In 2004 Google acquired Picasa from Lifescape and began offering it as Freeware. Picasa is a Blend of the name of spanish painter Pablo Picasso , the phrase mi casa and "pic" for pictures. 
Native applications for Windows XP , Windows Vista , Windows 7 and Mac OS X are avvilable from Google. For Linux, Google has bundled Wine with the Windows version to create an installation package rather than write a native Linux version, the latest Windows version however, can be run with Wine. this is also an iPhoto plugin or a standalone program for uploading photos avilable Mac OS X 10.4 and later.
As of January 2015, the latest version of Picasa is 3.9, Which supports Windows XP , Windows Vista , Windows 7 , and has Google + integration for users of that service. Version 3.9 also removed integration with Picasa Web Albums for users of Google+ 
For organising photos, picasa has file importing and tracking features, as well as tags, facial recognition and collections for further sorting, it also offers several basic photo editing functions, including colour enhancement , red eye reduction, and cropping. others features include slide shows , printing and images taglines. Images can also be prepared for external use, such as for e-mailing or printing, by reducing file size and settings up page layouts. this is also integration with online photo printing services. other simple editing features include adding text to the image. picasa supports Google's WebP image format as well as the JPG formt and most RAW image format. A user can view and edit RAW files and save the finished edit without any changes to the original RAW files. Picasa also makes advanced editing simple by putting one-click fixes and powerful effects at your fingertips and picasa make it a snap to share your pictures, you can email, prints photos home, make gift CDs, instantly share your images and albums, and even post pictures on your own blog.

picasa is software that helps you instanly find, edit and share all the pictures on your PC. every time you open Picasa, it automatically locates all your pictures and sorts them into visual albums organized by date with folders name wou will recognize. You can drag and drop to arrange your albums and make labels to create new groups.Picasa makes sure your pictures are always organised.
